"The
Apostle's Doctrine"
What
an Apostolic Believes...
Concerning
Sinful Man:
- We believe that
all persons are born in sin and shapen in iniquity
(Psalm 51:5)
- That the heart
of man is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked (Jeremiah
17:9)
- That all have
sinned and come short of the Glory of God (Romans 3:23) (Romans 5:12)
- And that at one
time we had no hope and were without God in this world (Ephesians
2:12)
- We believe that
the payment for those sins is death
(Romans 6:23)(Romans 5:10)
- That while we
were without strength and were ungodly sinners, Christ died for us
(Romans 5:6-8)
Reconciliation
To God:
- We believe that
sinful man can be reconciled to Jesus Christ
(2 Corinthians 5:18,
19) (Romans 5:10) (Colossians 1:21)
- That God chose
blood to cover the sins of man; a substitute had to die
(Genesis 3:21)
- And that without
the shedding of blood is no remission (of sins)
(Hebrews 9:22)
- That reconciliation
is brought about through the blood of Jesus Christ
(Hebrews 9:12)
(1 Peter 1:18, 19)
- It is the blood
that makes the atonement for our sins
(Leviticus 17:11)
- That Jesus
shed His blood at Calvary for us
(John 19:34) (Acts 20:28) (Hebrews
9:12) (Revelation 1:5)
Coming to God:
- We believe that
no one can come to Jesus except the Father (Spirit) draw him (John
6:44, 65)
- Jesus Himself
said, "Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you."
(John 15:16)
- He also said,
"For many are called, but few chosen."
(Matthew 22:14)
- The phrase "Accept
the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior", is not in the Bible.
Jesus said "Except" not "Accept"
(John 3:3,5) (Matthew 18:3) (Luke
13:3, 5) (John 6:53)
The Grace of God:
- We believe that
we are saved by the Grace of God, His free gift to us
(Ephesians 2:8)
- When we were
enemies to God, we were reconciled to Him by His grace (Romans 5:10,
15)
- The Grace of
God has appeared to all men
(Titus 2:11)
The New Birth:
- We believe that
a candidate for God's salvation must be born again of water and of
the Spirit (John 3: 1-7)
- Being born of
the water occurs when one goes down in water baptism in the Name of Jesus
Christ.
(Matthew 28:19) (Luke 24:47) (Acts 2:38) (Acts 8:16) (Acts
10:48) (Acts 19:5)
- Being born of
the Spirit happens when one is filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence
of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance
(Acts
2:1-4) (Acts 10:44-47) (Acts 19:6)
Repentance:
- We believe that
it is the "Goodness of God" that leads one to repentance (Romans 2:4)
- God is not willing
that any perish, but that all would come to repentance
(2 Peter 3:9)
- There must be
a true repentance of a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart
(Psalms 51:17)
- Old things are
passed away, all things become new
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
- There must be
a separation from worldliness
(2 Corinthians 6:17)
- Knowing that
our old man is crucified with Him…
(Romans 6:6)
Water Baptism In
the Name of the Lord Jesus:
- We believe that
the formula for baptism for the remission of sins is in" The Name
of Jesus Christ," as commanded by our Lord Himself. (Matthew 28:19),
- This was confirmed
and commanded by the Apostle Peter.
(Acts 2:38)
- There is salvation
in no other name.
(Acts 4:12)
- This also is
commanded by the Apostle Paul, that whatsoever we do in word or in
deed is to be done in the Name of the Lord Jesus.
(Colossians 3:17)
- The Apostle Paul
teaching that we are buried with Him in baptism
(Romans 6:3-5) (Colossians
2:12)
- We believe that
water baptism in the name of Jesus is essential to salvation as shown
in the scriptures and urgently needs to be accomplished upon one's
confessing their sins to God and repenting to God of those sins.
(Matthew
28:19) (Luke 24:47) (Acts 2:38) (Acts 4:12) (Acts 8:16) (Acts 10:48)
(Acts 16:33) (Acts 19:5)
- Water baptism
in the Name of Jesus fulfills the requirement of being Born Again
of the water. It is for the remission of all of your sins. (Acts 2:38)
Infilling of the
Holy Ghost:
- We believe that
to be "Born Again of the Spirit" one must be filled with the Holy
Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and the Spirit
of God gives the utterance. (Acts 2:1-4) (Acts 10:44-47) (Acts 19:1-6)
- This is a prophesy
fulfilled by God as told in the Old Testament
(Ezekial 36:26) (Joel
2:28,29)
- We believe the
without this infilling of God's Spirit into us, He does not lay claim
to us (Romans 8:9)
- You'll have no resurrecting power when Jesus
comes back for His bride
(Romans 8:11) (Matthew 25:1-12) (Revelation
19:7) (2 Cor. 3:18)
Holiness:
- We believe that
as God is Holy, we also must be holy
(1 Peter 1:15)
- We are to present
ourselves before Him being holy
(Romans 12:1)
- We must perfect
our holiness in the fear of God
(2 Corinthians 7:1)
- Without holiness,
no man shall see the Lord
(Hebrews 12:14)
- Our bodies being
the Temple of the Holy Ghost we must keep it holy, or be destroyed
(1 Corinthians 3:16,17)
- Pure religion
dictates that we keep ourselves unspotted from the world
(James 1:27)
Saints Need A Pastor:
- We believe that
we must have a Pastor to preach to us "The Way"
(Romans 10:14-17)
- The God given
five fold ministry is for our perfection and edification
(Ephesians
4:11,12)
- It pleased God
by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe
(1 Corinthians
1:21)
- It is the Pastor's
faith that we follow
(Hebrews 13:7) ( 1 Corinthians 11:1)
- Obedience to
the Man of God is mandatory
( Hebrews 13:17)
- The Pastor is
worthy of double honor
( 1 Timothy 5:17)
- Support of the
Man of God is of the utmost importance
(1 Thessalonians 5:12,13)
- The Pastor carries a burden of the Lord for the care of the church
(2 Cor.11:28)
There is only one
God:
- We believe that
the Lord our God is one Lord
(Deuteronomy 6:4)
- The devils also
believe this and tremble
(James 2:19)
- God Himself declared
that there was none beside Him
(Isaiah 43:10,11) (Isaiah 44:6) (Isaiah
44:24) (Isaiah 45:5,6) (Isaiah 46:9)
- Jesus
said, "I and my Father are one"
(John 10:30)
- Jesus told Phillip
that when they had seen Him they had seen the Father
(John 14:9)
- In the beginning
was the Word (John 1:1) The Word was made flesh
(John 1:14)
- God was in Christ
reconciling the world unto Himself
(2 Corinthians 5:19)
- God was manifest
in the flesh
( 1 Timothy 3:16 )
- All of the fullness
of the Godhead dwells in Jesus
( Colossians 2:9 )
- The light of
the knowledge of the glory of God is seen in the face of Jesus Christ
( 2 Corinthians 4:6)
- The child prophesied
about in Isaiah 7:14 and Isaiah 9:6 was fulfilled at the birth of
Jesus (Matthew 1:21)
- One Spirit, One
Lord, One God and Father of all
( Ephesians 4:4-6 )
- God the I Am
and the I Am He ( Exodus 3:13,14 ) Jesus the I Am and the I Am He
( John 18:4-8 ) (Revelation 1:17,18 )
- God the First
and the Last (Isaiah 41:4) Jesus the First and the Last
(Rev. 22:13)
- One Lord and
King over the earth and His name One
( Zechariah 14:9 )
- One Creator of
all things
(Malachi 2:10) (Genesis 1:1) (John 1:3)
- One throne in
heaven, and only one sitting on it
( Revelation 4:2 )
Hide the Word of God
in your heart, that you won't sin against Him (Psalm 119:11)
Jesus commanded us
to search the scriptures (John 5:39)
The Apostle Paul told
us to study to show ourselves approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15)
Jesus said, "Learn
of Me" (Matthew 11:29)
Love Him with all
thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might (Deut. 6:5)
Why saintly women
wear dresses and dress modestly:
- Women are not to
wear anything that pertains to a man, for it is an abomination unto
God (Deuteronomy 22:5)
- Women's adornment
should be in modest apparel, which becometh women professing godliness
(1 Timothy 2: 9, 10)
- A woman's appearance
is not an outward show, but that of a meek and quiet spirit, which is
in the sight of God of great price. (1 Peter 3:3, 4)
Why saintly women
do not cut their hair:
- It identifies the
woman as being under subjection to her husband if she is married, and
also unto Christ. ( 1 Corinthians 11: 3 )
- If a woman cuts
her hair, she might as well shave her head (1 Corinthians 11:5, 6)
- If a woman have
long hair, it is a God given glory to her, and it is given to her for
a covering. (1 Corinthians 11: 15)
